How Much to Feed My Yorkie to Avoid Getting Overweight

The Yorkies are among the hearty breed of dogs; however, some may have a sensitive digestive system. Probably, you are tempted to feed your food to your Yorkshire Terrier when they beg and look so cute; however, you need to remember that your Yorkie may not eat as much as it wants and whatever it wants. You should keep your dog on a balanced nutritional diet and stay constant with not giving them anything out of their normal planned meals. Getting overweight can be a problem for your pet as well. You may be asking ‘How much do I feed my Yorkie then?’ Well, there are many ways that you will be able to control the weight of your Yorkshire Terrier. And here are some of the suggestions that you can remind yourself with. First is that you should be feeding your dog with three small meals in one day instead of just feeding the pet once a day. This is done to make sure that the blood sugar level at an even rate instead of letting it spike.

So ‘How much to feed my Yorkie?’ You have to ensure that you are giving your dog the daily nutritional requirements it needs. It is important that you avoid giving your pet treats but there can be an exception, only on rare occasions. When you feed the dog several times every day, it will not go hungry or it won’t need any extra food. It is also best that you prepare your dog’s food as there are many healthy recipes that you will be able to find. When you take the responsibility of preparing your pet’s meal, then you can be sure that has all the requirements it needs and you are just going to feed enough to prevent weight gain and becoming overweight. When gaining too much weight, decrease the amount fed in each meal until the correct weight is achieved.
